It is best for the plants to be in a soil rich with nutrients, so using compost is beneficial for their growth. Give the heads room to grow, with at least 1 ½’ between them and 2’ between rows. After between 75 and 100 days, the heads are ready for harvest. To harvest, remove the root with the head so that it doesn’t rot or cause disease in the soil.
